아동학회에서 발간하는 아동학회지는 창간 이후 줄곧 아동학 분야의 중심적인 학회지로서 질적 수준의 우수성을 인정받아 왔습니다. 아동학회지는 2015년에 주요 국제색인 기관 중 하나인 EBSCO와 서비스 제공을 위한 계약을 1차로 완료하였는데, 이는 아동학회지의 질적 수준에 대해 국제적인 인정을 의미한다고 자부합니다.

이제는 지금까지의 성취에서 나아가 앞으로의 발전을 위해 변화가 필요한 시기가 되었습니다. 아동학회지는 주기적인 학술지 평가를 통해 한국연구재단의 등재학술지로 인정되었고, 한국과학기술총연합회에서는 매년 학술지 발간을 위한 지원금을 지원받고 있습니다. 학술지 평가 기관인 과총이 2016년부터 학술지 평가 기준에서 국제화, 디지털화를 강조하고 있고, 한국연구재단도 올해부터 온라인 논문투고시스템을 운영할 것을 요구하고 있습니다. SCOPUS와 SSCI에 등록되기 위해서도 이러한 기준이 평가 기준 중 한 항목이기도 하기 때문에 아동학회지가 국제화를 위해서도 긴 흐름에서 노력이 필요한 것으로 판단됩니다. 이와 같이 국제화, 디지털화해 가는 사회적 변화에 부응해야 하는 것은 필요한 일이지만 아동학회지로서는 어느 정도까지 시대적 변화에 따라야 하는지에 대한 고민이 있습니다. 국제화를 위해 영문학술지로 전환해야 한다는 요구도 있는 반면, 대다수 회원들간의 학문적 소통을 위해 현재의 모습을 유지해야 한다는 목소리도 있습니다. 이에 아동학회지에서는 학회지의 방향에 대한 다양한 목소리를 최대한 반영하고 변화하는 시대적 요구에 부응하여 이번 호부터 다음과 같이 변화하고자 합니다.

2016년 2월 말에 발간되는 아동학회지 37권 1호부터 이러한 변화가 시작됩니다. 「아동학회지」라는 명칭을 대신하여 아동학회지의 영문 명칭인 「Korean Journal of Child Studies」라는 새로운 이름을 사용하게 되었고, 학회지 표지 및 내지 디자인, 사용하는 종이, 체제가 국제화의 기준에 따라 바뀌게 되었습니다. 학회지에 논문을 투고하실 분들도 별도의 온라인 논문투고시스템을 이용하여 투고해야 합니다. 국제화의 기조에 맞추어 학술지에 영어 논문을 게재하는 것도 장려하겠지만 한국어 논문을 게재하는 것도 유지하려고 합니다.

이런 변화는 현재 급변하는 학술지 평가 시스템에서 아동학회지가 우수한 등재지의 지위를 유지하고 더 나아가 국제적으로 인정받는 학술지가 되기 위한 노력의 일환으로 이해해 주시기 바랍니다. 새로운 이름으로 세상에 나온 「Korean Journal of Child Studies」가 이제까지의 성취에서 더 나아가 국제적으로도 우수한 학술지로 인정받고, 더 좋은 논문이 실릴 수 있도록 학회 회원님들의 관심과 격려 부탁드립니다. 감사합니다.

The Korean Journal of Child Studies, published by the KACS, has continuously been recognized as a high quality publication in the field of child studies ever since it was first circulated. The Korean Journal of Child Studies has finished the first stage of its service contract with EBSCO, a leading international index provider, in 2015; I believe that this contract represents an international level of recognition of the quality of the Korean Journal of Child Studies.

Now, it is time for change to strive for future development, building on our achievements to date. The Korean Journal of Child Studies has been recognized as an official journal of the National Research Foundation of Korea following regular evaluation of our journal; it is also receiving annual grants from The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies. Starting in 2016, the Federation of Science and Technology Societies, an evaluation agency for academic journals, emphasizes the digitalization and internationalization in its evaluation of journals. Additionally, the National Research Foundation requires the operation of an online journal submission system starting this year. To be registered with SCOPUS and SSCI, these requirements must also be met. As such, the Korean Journal of Child Studies also must strive for similar goals for the journal’s internationalization. While adhering to such social changes is necessary to answer the internationalizing and digitalizing trends of society, our journal troubles itself with how much we should adhere to these changes. While there are demands to publish our journal in English to internationalize, there are also opinions that the journal should stay in Korean to facilitate academic communication between the majority of our members. Therefore, the Korean Journal of Child Studies is pleased to announce the following changes starting from this issue, in order to meet the needs of the time and reflect these diverse ranges of opinions to the fullest.

The following changes will begin with volume 37, issue 1 of the Korean Journal of Child Studies, which was published at the end of February 2016. Instead of the Korean name of our journal, we will introduce the usage of our English name, Korean Journal of Child Studies; the cover and design, paper used, as well as the system will change in adherence to international standards. For those submitting papers, they must use our separate online journal submission system to do so. While we encourage the publication of English papers to meet the needs of internationalization, we will maintain the publication of Korean papers as well.

Please interpret these changes as our attempts to maintain our status as a leading publication and, furthermore, to achieve the status of an internationally renowned journal. We hope that you maintain your interest in and support for our journal so that the Korean Journal of Child Studies, with its new name, will be recognized as a leading publication internationally, and attract superior quality papers.
